Is there anything betters than burgers? We doubt it. Unless it's burgers perfectly paired with a delicious glass of Sutter Home wine. Or perhaps winning $50,000 for your best burger recipe. Or a burger-perfect grilled dessert created by our Culinary Department to celebrate the 18th anniversary of our Build a Better Burger® National Recipe Contest and Cook-Off.

We want to satisfy your every burger craving. You're invited to explore Everything Burgers for information and inspiration about America's favorite dish.

We are delighted to invite home cooks from across the nation to ignite your imaginations, fire up your grills, and join in the fun of Sutter Home Winery’s annual search for America’s best burgers. You may choose to reinvent your favorite burger with exciting new toppings, turn the elements of a classic dish into a burger, show off your ethnic or cultural background, highlight the unique dishes or products of your part of the country, or surprise us with a completely new concept in burgers.

While this year’s contest does not follow a specific theme, we’re always looking for highly creative recipes that are packed with flavor. When choosing ingredients, remember to use only items that are readily available in most well-stocked supermarkets. And please don’t send us overly ornate creations laden with costly ingredients.

Feel free to enter as many recipes as you wish, but before submitting or mailing them, please read the rules carefully. If you’ve previously entered recipes to our contest that did not make it to the final cook-off, you may update and resubmit them, even if they appear on the contest site’s Burgerbase. If they’ve been published elsewhere, however, they are ineligible for submission.

Ever since BBB began 19 years ago, the creativity shown by thousands of innovative backyard chefs across America has been impressive. We’re anxious to see what’s offered for our consideration this summer, and we look forward to welcoming ten of you to Napa Valley for the 2009 cook-off on September 26, when we’ll award a $50,000 Grand Prize for the Best Beef Burger and $10,000 for the Best Alternative Burger.
